The timing of the launch of Dr Martens motorcycle boots is perfect! 2014 is the 50-year anniversary of the infamous 1964 Margate beach riots between the ‘Wild Ones’: Mods and Rockers battling each other and the police.

These boots are more than a biker boot: these are Dr Martens biker boots

Did you grow up with Dr Martens boots? Probably! And if those memories give you a warm feeling, then there is great news: That air-cushioned boot is now available as a motorcycle boot. The only question is: why did it take so long!

Feeling a bit like a rebel?

Originally, Dr Martens boots were very much a working men’s boot. Then Pete Townshend, guitarist with ‘The Who’, got hold of them and they became the boot of choice for the mods and ‘The Who’. 50 years on, the brand has lost none of its rebel status amongst clothing and boots brands.

Boots that are every part the original ‘feeling’, crafted to perform on a motorcycle

As pieces of footwear to hold and admire, they are iconic. Think of a Dr Martens boot and what do you think of? The air-cushioned sole with yellow stitching? The pull-on loop? The round toe cap?

The Dr Martens biker boots retain much of the original details. There are two loops to make it easier to pull the boots on and there is the familiar air-cushioned sole and shoe shape. The stitched sole had to give way to making the boots waterproof for motorcycling. The waterproof membrane is Sympatex, reinforcing the heritage of the brand for well-constructed boots that last. And large d3o impact protectors on both sides have been added to protect ankles in a spill.

Dr Who? Dr Martens! What’s not to like?!
