Our friends at WeBuyAnyBike have put together a few tips you should consider before putting your motorbike up for sell.
Read up on your motorcycle. Look on popular motorcycle selling sites and get an idea of what your model is selling for, and the quality that is out there at the moment. This will give you a good idea as to where you can place your motorbike in the current market.
It’s an obvious one. Spend some money on cleaning up your motorcycle. Make sure your chain (if you have one) is clean and well lubricated . Give your motorcycle a general clean and once over. The better your motorcycle looks, the more people will pay for it.
Invest some time and money in a mini service. Make sure the tyres are up to scratch. Ensure your oil and coolant are topped up. Make sure all electrics are doing what they should be and replace anything that isn’t working. Nothing can be more off-putting for a potential buyer if your motorcycle doesn’t work.
If your motorcycle doesn’t currently have an MOT, try and get one. It’s a lot harder to sell a motorbike with no MOT. Having an MOT gives the buyer the assurance that everything can be trusted. It also means less haggling opportunities.
5. HAVE YOUR INFORMATION AT THE READY!
Have all of your motorcycles information ready to hand over. Make sure you have all the basic details. Try to have all of the service records, modifications and receipts at the ready for when someone comes to view your bike. Also have the MOT and log book nearby. All of this makes the potential buyer more comfortable and confident in what you are saying, making for a smoother sale.
