Rev It Adventure Motorcycle Boots Review

A few years ago, the Rev’It! brand set out to redefine adventure motorcycle touring gear. That brought about a completely new approach to adventure touring outerwear.

Rev’It! Adventure Motorcycle Boots: New, different, innovative.

Amongst the new range, a group of adventure motorcycle boots was designed from the ground up. New, different, innovative. True to the Rev’It! ethos: “We won’t touch it, unless we can make a decisive difference to what is already available to the motorcyclist.” And, they are great boots. Find out why here:

Rev’It! Discovery OutDry Boots

The Discovery boots are true adventure motorcycle boots through and through. The stand-out feature is fit: A Boa lacing closure provides the benefit of delivering perfect fit, similar to the unique, individual fit and adjustments an inner bootie provides in track boots. It is quite a structured boot, so expect the slightly more rigid feel of an off-road boot.

And, that is why the Boa closure makes such a difference: With a structured boot, making sure it fits uniquely to your shape of foot and ankle really matters to comfort. Most bikers also need to go one size up: the Discovery boots come up a little tight.

  • OutDry waterproofing: OutDry is a hugely breathable membrane that is bonded to the outer shell, preventing the boots to become heavy with water in wet weather or wet terrain
  • Replaceable Vibram sole: Tough hard-wearing soles, constructed to provide superior comfort when worn for hours on end
  • Boa lacing closure: Easy-to-use lacing system that provides unique, individual fit over foot and ankle
  • SeeSoft impact protection: Rev’It! are a leader in the development of impact protection, and their proprietary technology is incorporated into the boot’s impact zones

Rev’It! Gravel OutDry Boots

The Gravel adventure motorcycle boots feature the rugged components you expect from a boot that is meant to go off-road. The most visible feature is the chunky zip side closure. And, the boots feel quite ‘structured’ when you put them on. However, it is a more traditional touring boot package overall, one you will be immediately comfortable and familiar with.

The stand-out feature is the waterproofing: Being OutDry, the membrane and the outer shell are one layer. That means to you that the boots are more breathable and won’t soak up rain water or spray when riding in wet terrain: The boots remain lighter, and they dry faster. And, you are getting extra: The boots are priced roughly where the price scale for OutDry boots starts; However, apart from top-notch materials, you get the benefits of the Vibram sole. Now that is ‘Extra’ over-and-above comfort! (Read on to find out more about the Vibram soles!)

  • OutDry waterproofing: OutDry is a hugely breathable membrane that is bonded to the outer shell, preventing the boots to become heavy with water in wet weather or wet terrain
  • Vibram sole: Tough hard-wearing soles, constructed to provide superior comfort when worn for hours on end

Rev’It! Trail Waterproof Boots

The Trail boots pack as many adventure motorcycle boots features into one package as is possible at the entry price point they aim at. What you get is a trickle-down of all the good things from the boots already reviewed, including the same factory. That matters.

The stand-out feature is the sole: Vibram make soles for a living. Actually, they makes soles for the women and men that live on their feet all day long: Fire fighters, nurses, protection officers. Vibram have perfected the mix of the resilience, grip and comfort those professions require. You buy the Trail boots for the looks, for sure – but you value them for the superior comfort.

  • Waterproof: Traditional waterproof construction using a quality waterproof membrane
  • Vibram sole: Tough hard-wearing soles, constructed to provide superior comfort when worn for hours on end
  • Selected outer materials: It’s a good-looking boot!

Rev’It! adventure motorcycle boots are ‘touring boot height’

Nothing unusual here, BUT unusual in the genre. A lot of adventure motorcycle boots are taller than traditional touring boots and therefore fit differently to what you are used to. For the most part, that is because the adventure motorcycle boot styles are based on the motocross boots range from the same brand. The Rev’It! range of adventure motorcycle boots was designed from the ground up to meet the needs of an Adventure Motorcycle rider.

Vibram soles are different

“Put them on, wear them for 5 minutes – if you don’t buy them, we give you 10% off any style at similar value”
A few years back, there was one Rev’It! boot that had a Vibram sole. It had a bit of an adventure ‘feel’ about itself and, at that time, there was not much choice in that look unless you were made of cash. We developed a little trick: Vibram was not really known as a sub-brand for soles, and Rev’It! was still an “up-and-coming” brand. In the GetGeared shops, we would give the Rev It boots to a customer to try, with one simple condition: “Put them on, wear them for 5 minutes – if you then don’t buy them, we give you 10% off any style at similar value”. Not once did we have to do that. We can summarise why technically Vibram is brilliant. It would not matter: THAT is why Vibram is brilliant. Comfort. It’s a point of differentiation for all the Rev’It! boots shown here.
